The Sham Chum river system is separated from the Mei Long and Kam Tin river system by the Tai Mo Shan range south of King Mu-Long. The Kam Tin river, which has its source at the foot of Tai-Mo Shan, flows in a north-westerly direction, joining the Mei Long river at the village of San Hui.
